So a few things have happened since my last entry: - We set up a little Christmas tree and stockings!

- We painted our living room:

- We had our Christmas Party with our best friends and exchanged gifts early since we'll all be with our families on Christmas day. Or at least, that was the original plan... now some of us want to hang out on Christmas Day because no one ever does anything.

Yay for food! We played Clue, watched Vampire Diaries, talked, and then shared all of our gifts. I'll probably make a list of what I got later.

- Thanks to those of you who filled out the poll in my last entry! I made a little review blog here on LJ: [info]chiklitareviews This will be fun, I always want to post reviews on here but I never thought anyone really cared. - I made Christmas icons too, for [info]hystoria . I'll be putting those up tomorrow morning hopefully. I made like 40 of them. I couldn't help myself, I love Christmas.

How are your preparations going for the holidays? Has anyone gotten all of their shopping done? I got 99% of it done, but I still have to get my parents their gifts. There's tons of snow on the ground up north, something like 20 inches in some areas?! WTH. How do you guys manage?!

i've been working like a crazy person these past two weeks, but it's worth it, because the paychecks will make christmas this year pretty sweet. we're going to have a christmas party with just the girls a couple of days before christmas, where we'll pass out gifts, watch a christmas movie and have christmas music playing and christmas cookies and basically our goal is to have everyone pretty sick of christmas by the time they leave. christmas only comes around once a year and i plan to milk it.

i've been shopping a lot lately. first we went to the mall to go to ulta for the heck of it and we brought a friend along. while looking around i got some ideas for gifts. the best part of the night was going into the photobooth to take some pictures. i wish there was some way to buy the video because it was hilarious. i also look very chongalicious.

a couple of days later we went to the florida mall to check out the lush store. lush is 100% vegetarian and 60% organic, and they make products like soaps, bath bombs, massage bars, shampoos, skin care, etc. but natural and quirky. their scents are super different and not everyone's cup of tea but the quality of their products is excellent and i found a few things.

I had a nice vacation this weekend. I had Thursday-Sunday off so I made the best of it. Thursday night I caught the midnight showing of Zombieland with some friends. It was so much better than I expected and so funny. My friend absolutely hates zombie movies and she ended up loving it.

Friday I helped my friend out with her paper in the morning and then we went thrift shopping. I didn't find anything though :( We dropped off her paper, looked at some really modern apartments that were INSANE (I mean LOOK at this place! Fucking amazing tbh.), grabbed some dinner, went to Wal-Mart to pick out the paint for our living room, and then met up with my sister. We watched Push in our living room and then got a late night dinner with friends.

This past Saturday we went to Gainesville to visit a friend who goes to school up there. We asked our parents to come along because they're fun and we had so much fun. We met our friend Melanie at Chipotle (which I hate btw) and then we walked around the town a little bit and went to the local mall. Then we went to an art festival downtown which was awesome, so much stuff to look at. Dad bought some kettle corn and fell in love, he wouldn't put it down, and we just walked around listening to the musicians play and going through the different tents looking at ceramics, mixed media, photography, and it was so nice. Then we went to the university and looked around and then we went home. Great day overall.

Some random pictures from Saturday:

Yesterday was a lazy Sunday. We hung around here, watched Let the Right One In (I don't know how that movie is labeled as 'horror' cause it really wasn't), I made some lunch, and then we got ready to go see a movie at the dollar theater cause that's how we do. We watched The Hangover which was amazing, and then we got some junk food and settled down to watch Veronica Mars dvd's.

All in all it was a perfect weekend tbh. I bought Paramore's new CD and I like it. I finished Digital Fortress and Mansfield Park and also finished Alice in Wonderland so now I'm going to tackle either Wuthering Heights or Sense and Sensibility, idk which one. I go back to work today and I'm not looking forward to it. Seriously considering thinking of going on a cruise trip to Europe next summer. Super excited for our housewarming party on Thursday night. A bunch of friends that we haven't seen in fooorever are stopping by so I'm really looking forward to it. Am a little frustrated because I want to be able to talk to some friends online who are pretty much absent but there's not much I can do about that. My dog needs a haircut and a bath really really badly. Anyone have $45 laying around? Today she stepped on an anthill and a thousand ants went absolutely batshit. I bought stationery but I want more. And yeah, that's about all that's been going on lately.

I went with Mirly (roommate) to the pier today to get some pizza on Monday and afterwards we drove around the pier taking advantage of the cool temperature cause that never happens in florida. We watched the sunset and then went home. <3

Saturday night we celebrated my best friend/roommate Mirly's 21st birthday. We grabbed a late dinner at TGI Friday's and then drove to a club. My sister and I hate going to the club, but Mirly has never gone so we went. Most of the time was spent hanging out against the wall watching other people dance.

Mirly danced a bit with her boyfriend, surprising us all, because the girl can get down. I danced a bit as a joke and bopped to da musik, and I regretted it immediately because 10 minutes later I had a guy walk up to me to ask me why I was dancing over against the wall and not out on the dance floor. I told him I was just shy and after a bit he left. He was kind of cute, actually, but nothing will ever convince me of getting swallowed up into that sweat pit of gyrating bodies. A fight broke out between two guys and I almost climbed on top of my sister because they came tumbling right into the wall we were hanging out at and they were seriously going at it. Security came and took them away and we left shortly afterwards. That was the highlight of the night tbh.

Anyway, some pictures!

I got my cellphone in the mail and it is super cute:

I'm in love with it. It's tiny and easy to use and basically it's perfect for me.

Tomorrow is a pretty big day. My sister and I are leaving bright and early to apply for the apartment we've been obsessing over for the past month and a half almost. I'm going to be a nervous wreck for two or three days until they let us know if we've been accepted and if my credit is good enough (I have very good credit, but I wish I had a longer history of it?) for a cheap deposit, etc. If everything goes well we'd get the special, which is $99 for a security deposit which would. be. awesome. If not, I'd just pay the $250 that's usually required.

Once we get approved we have two weeks to move in and I'm counting on those two weeks being the most stressful two weeks of my life. I don't even know where to start in terms of packing all my stuff. I started with books and a few things like that, but I still have to do my clothing, iMac, all the housewares stuff we're taking with us, and other miscellaneous stuff and I need to get my ass in gear if I want to get it all done in time. I'm super excited.

This past week or so I've been using one of the journals I received as a Christmas present from Brent. I use it to write any inspirational/interesting poems or quotes. I want to be able to share it with others and read it later on whenever I need to. I thought about having it just be personal or whatnot, but I changed my mind because I already have a moleskine and well, I really hate reading my old diaries. Here's the cover, and you can see it larger as well as a page inside the cut:

I've gotten a few things in the past week, mostly gifts. I love them all <3
I took more pictures earlier of other stuff, but I'll post those later. I missed taking random pictures, so I'll definitely do more ~photo posts~ cause I like doing them.

My sister and I went with our friend Melanie to this really great coffeehouse nearby called Boston Gourmet and had a great time.

Melanie and my sister Leslie

Somehow the topic of tattoos came up. I immediately thought of my friend Brent who has three tattoos and wants to get another one. I would like to get one myself, but no matter how many times I say I want one I always back out, mentally. I'm still not sure if I could go through with it. They're so permanent, and I'm so fickle, and that's really not a good mix. It's fun to think about, though.

Melanie <3

These past two days have been really laid back. Things are going very smoothly, I'm consistently having great days, and I just finally feel like I'm in a good place, emotionally. It's been so long since I've had such a good streak like this so I'm really milking it while it lasts. Having a positive attitude has definitely helped me a lot. Too many things used to distract me, negative things, and that always affected how I felt emotionally, but once I made a conscious effort to get past that, things started to get better. Looking at things differently changes everything. It's a slow process but it works, so I'm really proud of myself, for sticking to it and working hard to be focused and positive.

I feel like, for once, I'm exactly where I want to be, and it's a great feeling.

So Thanksgibbin was pretty amazing. The food was delicious, everyone loved it, some of us had seconds and thirds. Only two people were late, which is a miracle. And everyone had a blast just hanging out talking and catching up. At one point I spit out my soda over the dessert leftovers which NEVER happens (I've never spitted/snorted out my food EVER), so yeah, it was fun. My sister and I were a little late getting dinner started but it all worked out, save for a last minute run to the grocery store to get some dinner rolls. That bottle you see right there is Sparkling Apple Cider, because that's how we do.

The table; My sister Leslie serving dessert.

Afterwards a few of us stayed back and shared childhood stories (most of us grew up together) and it was just a really nice time. I'm looking forward to another get together.

Anyways. I just got asked out on a date to the movies and I accepted, and now I'm kicking myself for it. I don't do relationships, I'm not interested in one right now, and of course knowing all this the universe still decides to screw with me. Sigh.

I went to the local fair yesterday. This is pretty much all I can remember:

Last night is basically a blur of lights. The other thing I remember is the smell. As soon as we walked in I could smell the animals. It was a mix of sewer and shit. The experience was awesome from the get go obviously.

The food was so expensive. $6 bucks for a funnel cake. $7 bucks for a cheeseburger (the fries were $4). $4 for an ice cream cone. Ridiculous. I ended up spending almost $40 bucks.

My friend and I got on 8 rides. It was fun at first but then we did that whole thing of getting on a ride after eating some really shitty food and it was all I could do to keep myself from throwing up. All the rides were spinning rides, like wtf? I'm surprised I didn't witness someone puking right after.

The best part was the little kids shitting their pants. While waiting in line I would look over and there was at least one kid holding on for dear life with their eyes all 0_0. I felt bad for making fun of them but seriously, if you're a pussy don't get on the damn ride.

The Ferris Wheel was fun. We shared the little cart with another couple who were so nice. My friend practically sat on my lap because someone thought it'd be cute to spill soda and drop their cigarettes right on it.

I'm glad I went, I had fun, but I won't be going to another fair for like another ten years.

OT but: today is my interview! Wish me luck!
