I'm a huge fan of Kill Bill Vol. 1. Everything about it was amazing--the acting, the story, the action. I loved every second. I think I watched the first movie three years after it came out. I was only 16 when the first one came out so I wasn't really interested in that type of movie. I've seen Kill Bill Vol. 2 in bits and pieces on TV but I hate when they show rated R movies on TV because they bleep everything out, cut out chunks of scenes, and then put five commercial breaks in the middle of the good parts.

So I finally got to see it two nights ago, and I was disappointed with most of it. I liked that we finally got to meet Bill and we saw how Beatrix learned to be such a great killar, but the action was slow in coming and I was getting antsy for the killing to begin. The part where she gets buried alive made me nervous, although I don't know why because I know she had to get her revenge, but it would've pissed me off if she had just been buried alive and that was the end of it.

The last scene where she finally killed Bill just sucked so much ass. I actually felt bad for the guy towards the end and to me, he didn't seem like such a badass cold assassin. He looked more like a really grumpy grandfather with serious issues. I wanted there to be some sort of blood bath between them, like in the first movie where she went on a killing rampage and never looked back. And the Pussy Wagon broke down? Really?

To be honest, the best part about the movie was when Elle got her eye yanked out and was thrashing around yelling "I'm gonna fucking kill you, you bitch!!" (Which was hilarious) and Uma's acting, because I love her as Beatrix Kiddo. Oh, and Beatrix Kiddo!??!?! That's the name you give the Ultimate Baddass Blonde!? GTFO.

Anyway, I enjoyed the first movie a hell of a lot more and if Vol. 3 does come out, I hope it's as good as the first.

I had no idea what this movie was about. I didn't watch the trailer, I didn't read the synopsis on IMDB like I usually do, and I didn't even know it was set in Texas. All I knew was that people talked about it at the academy awards and there was a huge buzz. So I checked it out. And it was a complete. mindfuck.

This movie should have been called Three Guys Chasing Each Other because that's what it was. The action/plot began immediately and I was totally not prepared for what was going to happen. I couldn't look away, though. The main characters were a local sheriff (the good guy), the innocent Texan who stumbled upon 2 million dollars and stole it from the site of a drug deal gone bad where everyone died (the not-good not-bad guy), and the assassin trying to find the Texan and get the money (the bad guy).

The not-bad not-good guy

I don't blame this guy. If I stumbled upon 2 million dollars, and everyone who would claim it is dead, I would take the money and haul ass. If someone were to come after me and try to take the money that I stole in order to build a better life for myself and my wife, I would try to run and survive, which is what this guy did. It helped that he served in the war (the movie is set in the early 80's) and he knew what he was doing most of the time.

The good guy

Meanwhile, this guy, who is quite wise and smart for a local sheriff, is trying to protect the not-good not-bad guy because he's in deep shit and has no idea just how deep. Most of the time the sheriff doesn't make sense, and he stays out of things mostly, but we find out a lot of the story through him. However, my favorite person was the bad guy (as usual):

The bad guy

This guy is clearly a psychopath, although we don't know why. He has his own set of rules that I just couldn't understand. I could not figure this guy out. At all. Every time I thought I had an idea and could maybe predict his next move, I was completely off and he would surprise me, again. His entire character was creepy--the hair, the way he spoke, the way he walked, his weapon of choice... which, btw, I've never seen before. This bad guy doesn't use just any gun, he uses something else. And it's disturbing.

The movie is quite graphic in some parts, and it never got boring. The ending was sad, but predictable in a way. Except for one part-- the bad guy never gets caught. He just comes in, shoots everyone, and leaves. But not before he gets in a car accident and buys a shirt off a kid. I mean what? Why? I don't get it.

I've never seen anything like it, and maybe that's what the buzz is about. It's different, impossible to figure out, and entertaining, albeit weird.

Paris je t'aime is a film about love. From the IMDB plot summary: "Twenty filmmakers have five minutes each . . . The 20 moments are fused by transitional interstitial sequences and also via the introduction and epilogue."

Every scene was different. Some characters spoke only English, some only French, some both. Some stories were all dialogue, some were voice overs, others had none.

Some stories were fantasy and others were all too real. The film was all about love, but it wasn't just about people in love. Some were family members, some were past loves, others were strangers. Every story was so, so different. You can definitely see the different styles from the directors as the scenes change.

It's impossible to summarize this movie. I'm sure every person that watches it takes something different from it. I'm going to have to watch it twice to see if I missed anything but it's worth it.

I originally saw Rachel Getting Married because Anne Hathaway (who plays the main character, Kym) (which okay, Kym? how pretentious) was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar. I knew it was an independent film, but that was all I was sure of. I thought Anne was Rachel and I also thought Rachel was some sort of drug addict. I also hoped it would be a decent film. I was wrong on all counts.

I think Anne Hathaway was great in this film and she really embodied Kym for me. However, I'm not really sure I like Kym as a character. I understand her frustrations and her pain but other parts of her character were a huge turn off. She talked way too much, was very immature, craved attention, etc. These are characteristics I loathe in people, so I really didn't like her.

My favorite character was Kym's Dad. What a sweetheart, I wanted to give him a fierce hug every time I saw him on screen. Actually, Kym's Dad was the only thing I liked about this movie. The rest of the movie was just awful in my opinion.

First of all, some scenes were horribly long. Way longer than they should have been, and the worst part was that they served no purpose. We don't need to see Kym's sister Rachel's entire wedding and reception when nothing of importance happens. I think it was wonderful that Rachel married an African and had an African wedding but I felt like they went so overboard with it.

I fought the urge to fast forward through the scene of the rehearsal dinner when random characters gave little speeches about Rachel's upcoming marriage and whatnot. These characters had nothing to do with Kym. This movie is supposed to be about her. The entire situation with Rachel getting married was all about how it would come to affect Kym, and hopefully we would see her resolve some issues (she doesn't, but more on that below). It was just so confusing to have all these different things happening around Kym that didn't affect her directly. It didn't help the plot or the development of the characters, it was just a mess.

I felt the story line could have been handled much, much better. The movie starts off with Kym going back home after a stint in rehab for something awful she has done. As the viewer, we immediately understand that something grave happened in the past but we don't know what happened until much later. There are hints here and there but we never know the full situation until Kym explains it. But in order to get to that scene, which I found to be very important, the movie takes you through a huge maze.

You know, now as I write this I immediately think of this movie as if we all suddenly showed up for all these wedding preparations and were forced to watch bullshit drama unfold in this family that should have been resolved a long time ago and we really don't care and want everyone to get over themselves. That's how I felt anyway.

I also had issues with Kym and Rachel's Mom. Their relationship is strange, and she's very distant, but we never know why. And that never gets resolved when the movie ends. And the movie ending was so difficult to understand as well. Kym is leaving, but why? Why are we watching Rachel sitting in the backyard doing nothing and having the credits roll? Isn't this movie about Kym? Why can't we end the movie with a shot of the main character or at least have her say some meaningful last words? It felt like Kym just showed up, caused a shit storm, didn't really learn anything or resolve anything, and then decided to run away and never explain why or how she came to the conclusion of leaving. Like, hello, a little closure wouldn't have killed you.

If anyone liked this movie, let me know why. I really can't think of anything.

Random but my sister is watching The Hills in the living room and I can hear Spencer talking about his upcoming wedding and I immediately cringe, just by hearing his voice. With the exception of New York, no one has elicited this response from me.

I am so so hyper right now. I don't know why, I had some Diet Coke, maybe that's it? Maybe today was just a good day (although it wasn't anything special). Hopefully tomorrow is just as good.

Recent movies I've watched: The Duchess, with Keira Knightley. 'Twas alright, I thought the scenery was beautiful, but the entire movie I just felt sorry for her. And I hated the ending. I wish love would have just prevailed. I like happy endings :(

See? Pretty.

I also watched Babylon A.D. with Vin Diesel. The action was alright. The entire plot could've been worked with a lot better. It was way too "What. The. Hell." for me. I don't recommend it.

I ordered some vanilla scented incense on etsy and I keep waiting for them to come in. There's something to look forward to after all, I guess.

I saw Quantum Solace on Friday night with some friends. It was, of course, amazing. Great action from the beginning. There's something special about the action in these new 007 movies. I like to compare it to the Bourne series. It just seems so real. And the leading guy gets hurt.

I have to be honest: I love this Bond. Pierce Brosnan used to be my favorite, but Daniel Craig is growing on me. I love his "Oh fuck it" attitude, his masculinity, and the fact that deep down he really cares. This movie deals a lot with what happened in Casino Royale, so I suggest you watch that before going in to see this one or a lot of things won't make sense.

I really liked the leading lady in this movie. She wasn't irritating like most leading ladies are. I thought her backstory went okay with the story and even though she didn't kick a lot of ass, I still rooted for her. I want to add more, but I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

I was very pleased with the ending, and I like that the "change" the main character goes through isn't forced. The good guys win and that makes me leave the theater feeling great about the movie. I wish there had been more action and less people had died, but what can you do.

I don't know if anyone else does this but, everytime I watch a good action film I always walk out of the theater thinking "I need to seriously enroll in some self-defense classes." Because honestly? I wouldn't last in a pussy fight. I seriously wouldn't. I wouldn't come out of there like the Karate Kid, but I at least want to be able to defend myself and make a run for it. I also want to be able to defend other people because how much would it suck to feel helpless the entire time you're watching someone get hurt?

So yeah. TLDR: Bond was good, liked the leading lady, need to learn how to kick ass, bai.

I just saw the movie Max Payne in theaters. Unfortunately. I went with my sister and her boyfriend thinking I was going to walk in there and see a good action film. Well I was wrong. This movie was so cliche and ridiculous (spoilers ahead):

1) Cop loses his wife and baby,
2) Cop turns sort-of-dirty cop, decides to find the bad guy, and won't rest until he does,
3) Cop is betrayed by seemingly Good Guy, almost dies, but doesn't,
4) Cop finds the bad guy, gets the girl, cliff hanger ending

The story was so half-assed, as was the dialogue, and there were scenes where the characters just looked at eachother and spoke telepathically I guess. I understand it's based on a video game but damn. There were scenes where Mark Wahlberg ran away from a ROOM FULL OF COPS ARMED WITH MACHINE GUNS and he only got hit ONCE. AND BARELY. He also got severely beat up and wound up in the hospital but his face was perfectly fine. I did like the special effects of the demons, although it reminded me too much of the movie Constantine. Just like in 99% of action films there was tons of bullets and shooting scenes, and they even tried doing slow motion effects, but I just wasn't impressed. Mila Kunis is beautiful, but she wasn't as badass as I would've wanted and I have no clue what she did for a living or why she was so "tough".

I don't know if it's because I've become a movie snob or what, but a good action film to me is something like the 007 movies, The Bourne trilogy, etc. Sigh. $8.50 down the drain and an hour and a half I'll never get back.
